Exhibition: Tatties and Typhoid Ham
by Kate Steenhauer

(Thu 12 Jan - Sun 12 Feb)
Through evolving visual art, music, and spoken word three different lockdown perspectives are explored by artist Kate Steenhauer and improviser Maria Sappho.
Tatties & Typhoid Ham is the stories of working-class women who share their thoughts and experiences on being in lockdown during the Aberdeen 1964 typhoid outbreak and the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020; Makin’ Bread is a telephone conversation between the artist and 91-year-old Dorothy at Maryfield West Care Home while Dorothy is having her portrait drawn. Making of a Feminist is the artist’s internal conflict towards embracing feminism set against the global catastrophe. The work is presented through visual artwork and three short films.
