Edinburgh Writers' Forum

May Meeting

(Tue 9 May: 7pm)

Join the Edinburgh Writers' Forum for networking, drinks and words of wit and wisdom from guest speakers Fiona Brownlee and Philip Miller.

Fiona Brownlee has over thirty years' PR, marketing and rights experience in the publishing industry, both in London (at Pavilion Books & Midas PR) and Edinburgh (at Mainstream Publishing, latterly owned by Random House). In January 2014 she set up her own company, Brownlee Donald Associates Ltd, after which Fiona was named as a Rising Star by The Bookseller. BDA is a hybrid agency which was set up to offer PR consultancy to international publishers distributing into the UK while selling rights for UK publishers internationally. BDA now also handles PR for UK based publishers such as Hachette, Muswell Press and Canongate. Fiona will be giving the inside scoop on everything authors need to know about book PR.

Philip Miller was an award-winning journalist for 20 years, working as Arts Correspondent for The Scotsman, The Sunday Times in Scotland and the Herald. He was twice named Arts Writer of the Year at the Scottish Press Awards. His novels include The Golden Acre, The Blue Horse and All the Galaxies and his poetry has been published in print and online. Phil will be discussing the highs and lows of his publishing experiences and how he continues to navigate a successful writing career.
