(Fri 2 June: 6:30pm)
‘When I think of you, I feel as though I have lived all my life in a
dark hole without seeing or knowing anything’ - Joseph Conrad
‘I
valued Cunninghame Graham like rubies. We’ll never see his like again’ -
Hugh MacDiarmid
The biography and personal family memoir of a remarkable man. R B Cunninghame Graham: writer, politician (co-founder of the Scottish Labour Party and later founding president of the Scottish National Party), adventurer and gaucho, radical laird, and crusader for social justice. Born in London in 1852, his family home was near Stirling.
His great-great nephew, author of five novels James Jauncey undertakes a lively, highly readable exploration of having a near-mythical figure in the family history. James Jauncey and Scotland Street Press invite you to the launch of Don Roberto: The Adventure of Being Cunninghame Graham for drinks, a short talk and reading and the opportunity to buy the book.
This event is free but ticketed, please book ahead.
