Edinburgh Writers' Forum
September Meeting

(Wed 13 Sep: 7pm)
After a summer break in August, join the Edinburgh Writers' Forum for their September meeting with guest speakers Chris Brookmyre and Birlinn sales rep and director of the Cymera Festival Ann Landmann.
It is 25 years since multi-award-winning Sunday Times bestseller Chris Brookmyre published his first book. Since then he has established himself as one of the most popular crime writers in the UK. Recently longlisted for the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year, a TV adaptation of his book The Cut is in development with production company Highland Midge, and Chris and his wife Marisa are currently writing the scripts. His enthusiasm for hurling himself into extra-curricular activities such as the Scotland v England Writers football, the Caledonian Challenge, the Fun Lovin’ Crime Writers (including appearances at Glastonbury and Toronto), BBC Question Time and celebrity Mastermind (specialist subject Buffy the Vampire Slayer) means he has more to talk about than most.
Ann Landmann has been working in books since she was 19. With an undergraduate degree in Book Trade and Publishing under her belt she joined Blackwell’s, Edinburgh’s oldest bookshop; first as the buyer for the schools department and later as Events Manager. After nine busy years of events big and small, she changed sides and now works for Edinburgh-based publisher Birlinn Ltd as a sales representative. In her spare time, she runs Cymera: Scotland’s Festival of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Writing. Ann will discuss the role of sales reps and how authors can make contact with and work with sales reps to promote their books.
A booking fee of £1.25 applies to phone and online bookings.
