Lunchtime Lectures
with Jean Edmiston

(Tue 3 Oct: 12pm)
A series of 4 lunchtime lectures (19 Sep, 26 Sep, 3 Oct, 10 Oct) delving into the historical and cultural background of storytelling.
Jean Edmiston: "My first memories of stories told to me were my father and mother’s tales of their childhoods - the family folklore. My father was the storyteller. He had an endless supply of stories about the places we visited, every boggy moor, mountain, rocky cove had a story. I inherited these and a passion for stories. I discovered I could be a storyteller in the 1980s. I was forty years old and there was a storytelling revival. With the wonderful Mary Medlicott as my guide I began to learn the skills and ways of working with stories and I am privileged to have worked for over 30 years as a storyteller throughout the UK. Handing On is a project I share with my fabulous daughter Amanda Edmiston. Everyone has stories to tell; to hand on."
