An Evening of Music, Song & Poetry

Scottish Jews for a Just Peace present Crossing Borders, an evening of music, song and poetry, featuring Michael Alpert, Gica Loening, Phil Alexander, Nada Shawa, and the Och Vey Klezmer Band.

Organised in support of Medical Aid for Palestinians and British Shalom Salaam Trust trauma appeal, this event brings together top musicians and performers united in calling for peace and justice in Gaza, The West Bank, and Israel, in a rich offering of klezmer and Yiddish song, and Palestinian poetry.

Klezmer musician, singer and multi-instrumentalist, Michael Alpert will perform solo and together with Scottish and klezmer fiddler Gica Loening. They are joined by Phil Alexander, jazz pianist and accordionist, and founder of Edinburgh’s Moishe’s Bagel. Nada Shawa, human rights activist, poet and dancer will read her poems and Edinburgh’s Och Vey Klezmer Band will round off the night with a lively twist on traditional East European Klezmer.

All proceeds to Medical Aid for Palestinians and the British Shalom Salaam Trust trauma appeal. Please bring cash for on the night for further donations.
