UNESCO Cities of Literature Conference
(Tue 22-Fri 25 Oct)
This year we celebrate 20 years of Edinburgh’s designation as the world’s first UNESCO City of Literature, where it became the founding city in what is now an international network of 53 Cities of Literature in 39 countries around the world! Being a UNESCO City of Literature isn’t just about the past and present, it’s about working together for the future, and the Edinburgh City of Literature Trust is hosting a conference from 22 – 25 October to bring together all the cities in the network and connect them to writers and literary organisations in Edinburgh.

2024 marks the 35th anniversary of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Since 1989, SISF has been building bridges between cultures, artists and audiences all over the world through the power of storytelling – connecting past, present and future. This year’s theme is ‘Bridges Between’. At a time where literal, figurative and societal walls continue to be constructed, we invite everyone to look beyond these boundaries and to celebrate the last and the next 35 years of storytelling with us.
The conference is for delegates from the UNESCO Cities of Literature.
