Forefowk, Mind Me
with Quinie & Lizzie Mackenzie

(Thu 10 Jul: 6pm)
Join us for the premiere of a short film made as part of the Forefowk, Mind Me project by Scots singer Quinie. A screening of the film will be followed by a short artist talk with the artist, plus filmmaker Lizzie Mackenzie.
The film explores the research process behind Quinie's third album, released in May 2025. It follows a journey across Kilmartin Glen with her horse, Maisie — a slow and attentive way of travelling that created space to reflect on connections between people, animals, ancestors, and land. The songs on the album are sung in Scots and draw from Scottish Traveller singing traditions.
‘Quinie’s unfiltered, ripe singing voice resonates like a siren…. Alive with ideas’ ★★★★ (Guardian)
Lizzie Mackenzie is a self-shooting director-producer from Argyll whose work explores human and non-human existence at the edges of society, with a sensitive and playful approach. Her debut feature film The Hermit of Treig won several awards in the UK and internationally, including a Scottish BAFTA in 2022. For this project, Lizzie brought her eye to the movement of animals through landscapes, and how these rhythms shape our understanding of place.
After the film and talk, the gathering continues with our Hearth Fire Sessions; a space for shared stories, songs, and connection where Quinie will perform as part of an amazing lineup. Please book your ticket for Hearth Fire Sessions separately.
