Easy Sundays: Gathering Threads for Imbolc
(Sun 1 Feb: 10:30am-12pm)
Join us on Imbolc/St. Brigid's Day for a drop-in morning of crafting and story to celebrate the beginning of spring, led by Claire Hewitt and participants in the previous night's Moonspinners event.
Together you will make a Brigid Doll and Brigid Crosses, using your hands to create together whilst sharing songs and threads and story connected to Imbolc.
All materials will be provided but feel free to bring anything to contribute if you wish, such as felting wool, driftwood, shells, wool, silks, flowers or reeds.
Imbolc falls halfway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox and is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals, along with Beltane, Lughnasadh and Samhuinn. Traditionally, the Brigid Doll was made by the young women in the community and then taken from house to house by them whilst singing, with much feasting and dancing to follow!

Claire Hewitt is a professional storyteller and artist living in Highland Perthshire. For forty years she has been involved in gathering and inspiring local communities’ connection to their natural environment, and to one another, through the arts. For the last 20 years this has been through the carrying stream of the oral tradition, rooted in the landscape of Perthshire.

This event is part of Easy Sundays, a fortnightly session of stories, music, community and friendship, with a variety of activities for all to enjoy. Supported by TRACS (Traditional Arts and Culture Scotland) and the Scottish Storytelling Centre to create a warm and welcoming space for the community.
