Workshop: Finnish Songs

with Outi Karhu | Northern Streams Festival 2026

(Sat 18 Apr: 2pm)

Outi Karhu is a Finnish singer and pianist whose restless feet and a curious heart led her to Scotland. Hopping between styles and genre, her songs relay stories of sisterhood and freedom intermingling with fables and fairytales, and her debut album Let the Light In was released in late 2025. She leads the Glasgow’n Laulu Finnish Women’s Choir, some of whom may join the workshop.

In this workshop, you will use your voice to connect with the other participants and the world, exploring Finnish singing style, song and harmony using fun vocal exercises and the call-and-response format.

Outi and Glasgow’n Laulu will also be performing in the evening concert on Sat 17 April, ticketed separately. For the full list of events and more details about the performers, check out the Northern Streams website.

Thanks to funding support from the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
