Northern Streams Concert & Ceilidh

Celebrate the Northern Streams Festival 2026 with a two-part evening event!

First a concert featuring Outi Karhu and Glasgow’n Laulu Finnish Women’s Choir. Outi Karhu is a Finnish singer and pianist, whose restless feet and a curious heart led her to Scotland. Hopping between styles and genre, her songs relay stories of sisterhood and freedom intermingling with fables and fairytales and her debut album Let the Light In was released in late 2025.

Followed by a ceilidh featuring song, music and dance. Joss Cameron and Amy Dudley leading on songs with Kristina Leesik and Séamus Ó’Baoighill playing for dances being called and taught from Scotland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

    Workshop: Swedish Songs

    (Sat 18 Apr: 12pm) Kristina Leesik completed her studies in Swedish traditional music at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm 2020. She achieved the prestigious silver badge Zornmärket and earned the title of Riksspelman, master of Swedish traditional music. She then completed a masters degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2023 and plays in a number of different groupings including Cuan a Tuath who are performing in the festival. In this workshop you will explore a variety of songs from Kristina's Swedish repertoire. Kristina will also be performing on Fri 17 April as part of Cuan a Tuath and playing for the ceilidh on Sat 18 April, ticketed separately.     Workshop: Finnish Songs

    (Sat 18 Apr: 2pm) Outi Karhu is a Finnish singer and pianist whose restless feet and a curious heart led her to Scotland. She leads the Glasgow’n Laulu Finnish Women’s Choir, some of whom may join the workshop. In this workshop, you will use your voice to connect with the other participants and the world, exploring Finnish singing style, song and harmony using fun vocal exercises and the call-and-response format. Outi and Glasgow’n Laulu will also be performing in the evening concert on Sat 17 April, ticketed separately.     Workshop: Highland Fiddle & Pipe Tunes

    (Sat 18 Apr: 12pm) From the Isle of Skye, Séamus Ó’Baoighill has been playing Scottish traditional music from a young age on fiddle and pipes and was the youngest member to have entered Sgoil Chiùil na Gàidhealtachd by age 11. He furthered his music at Queens University Belfast and most recently completed his masters degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He was a finalist in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2015 award. He will share some of his favourite tunes in this workshop. Séamus will also be performing on Fri 17 Apr as part of Cuan a Tuath and playing for the ceilidh on Sat 18 Apr, ticketed separately.
