(Fri 19 Jul: 7:30pm)

Don’t miss the next fantastic show from Scotland’s best spoken word night! From the laugh-out-loud funny, through the wonderfully surreal, to the thoughtful and emotional: Loud Poets continues to prove that spoken word offers something for everyone.

Anthony Anaxagorou FRSL is a British-born Cypriot poet, fiction writer, essayist and publisher. His collections have been shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize and the Ledbury Munthe Poetry Prize for Second Collections and have been poetry book of the year in the Telegraph and Guardian newspapers. Anthony is artistic director of Out-Spoken, a monthly poetry and music night held at London’s Southbank Centre, and publisher of Out-Spoken Press. He is the editor-in-chief of Propel Magazine, an online literary journal featuring the work of poets yet to publish a first collection. In 2019 he was made an honorary fellow at the University of Roehampton. In 2023 he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.

Jack Hunter is an award-winning disabled performer, writer and poet. Originally from Inverness. Jack graduated from Queen Margaret University’s BA Drama & Performance course in 2017. Jack is a poetry slam Champion and performed at the Loud Poets Grand Poetry Slam Final at The Edinburgh International 2023 Book Festival. Jack’s solo autobiographical play One of Two, presented by Independent Arts Projects, was staged at the Traverse Theatre; and has toured Internationally in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. The production premiered, in association with Birds of Paradise Theatre Company, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022. The show was nominated for Best Production (Scottish Theatre Awards at the Fringe). One of Two will tour Scottish schools, as part of Theatre in Schools Scotland, later this year."

Amy Jo Philip is the first out transgender priest in the Scottish Episcopal Church. Before transitioning, she published two collections with Salt; The North End of the Possible (2013) and The Ambulance Box (2009) — as well as two pamphlets with HappenStance Press. A further publication is planned with Blue Diode Press. She currently serves as non-stipendiary clergy in Bo’ness, where she lives. Her work has appeared in various anthologies, translated into Italian and used in an English exam in Denmark.

Heather Rose is a Purple, Edinburgh-based Creative, and recent Slam Champion for Loud Poets’ Central Heat. She wraps her vulnerability and introspective nature in neat little metaphors that often involve cups of tea. Heather enjoys taking listeners on mental walks through the stories of her poems.
