Sruth nan Gàidheal: The Carrying Stream of Gaelic Nova Scotia

Join Màiri Britton on a virtual visiting tour of Nova Scotian Gaelic tradition-bearers. For eight years, Màiri and colleagues have worked on the Cainnt is Ceathramhan/Language in Lyrics project, creating an index of 7,000 Gaelic songs and re- cataloguing and transcribing the remarkable Cape Breton Gaelic Folklore Collection. Through performance and guided listening, Màiri will share some of her favourite songs and stories from the collections. Followed by a song-circle led by Brian Ó hEadhra from the North Atlantic Song Convention (NASC).

This year’s Festival explores the rich relationship between storytelling and the natural world through our theme Bird and Beast.
